Skillshare International works in partnership with locally based organisations in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to reduce poverty, injustice and inequality.
In June 2011, the first group of our International Citizen Service volunteers left the UK to start their three-month placements with Tanzania House of Talent, where they will be working with performing arts students to raise awareness of Malaria and to build valuable skills for sustainable livelihoods. One of the ways that we support our partner organisations is by placing development workers to share skills and ideas. In July 2010, we placed Katerina Kyrili in Kenya as an Advocacy and Research Officer with the Coalition for Peace in Africa. Katerina is currently working with colleagues at COPA to organise a training event for 20 peace building, development, humanitarian aid and human rights practitioners working in conflict affected areas of Africa. The main aim of the training will be to build the participants’ capacities in different peace building themes so that in turn they can be more effective resources within their own organisations and communities.
