VACANCY LIST APRIL 2005SPECIFIC RECRUITMENT The
following is a list of the specific jobs that we are currently
recruiting for.
Jewellery Designer/Product Designer, Narrikkuravar Educational Welfare Society (NEWS), Devarayaneri Narikkuravar colony, Trichy Tamil Nadu, India (I25) NEWS initiated a programme to support the production and marketing at traditional jewellery that Narikkuravars/Gypises (nomadic) artisans make, through providing inputs services and design and marketing support. Although the artisans have high skills in beaded jewellery making, the designs do not qualify to compete in open markets nationally and internationally. Your role will be to enhance the capacity of the traditional artisans to create new designs and to build their skills to gather market intelligence and to access new and wider markets with the help of the internet. Ability to train others is an essential requirement. Skills and ability to use software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) for creating designs are not essential but would be preferred. This is a three year placement. Textile Designer, Manav Adhikar Seva Samitee (MASS), Orissa, Bargarh, India (I26) Our partner, MASS is supporting a programme in Bargarh District tribal villages to enhance the skills of Ikat handloom weavers to enable them to fetch a larger market base for their fine traditional hand woven textile products (Sambalpuri Handloom) through value addition and marketing promotion support. Your role will be to build the skills of the traditional handloom weavers to create new textile designs to cater to niche domestic and interrnational markets, in a sustainable manner, and in addition, looking into issues of occupational and environmental heath hazards. We seek someone with textile designing experience and an understanding of market trends. The job purpose is to co-ordinate and play a leading role in the fundraising effors of ACTION for Conflict. Transformation, provide support and capacity building to the ACTION Support Centre (ASC) financial staff; set up and maintain appropriate financial and resource systems in the ASC; and to work with the ACTION co-ordinator in carrying out the Human Resources function. We seek someone with a tertiary qualification in the field of accountancy or commerce/or fully qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA, with extensive experience in both financial and management accounting. Experience in fundraising and proposal writing are essential skills. Your role essentially is to provide teaching services to Occupational Therapy students on physical disabilities with special emphasis in rehabilitation and settlement of people with disabilities in their own environment. This includes providing field support to qualified OTs. You will also support the School of Occupational Therapy and Tanzania Occupational Therapy Association to develop strategies to ensure continues development of the profession in Tanzania. We seek a person with a minimum of a degreee in Occupational Therapy and relevant teaching/training, and practical work experience in physical disabilities. Your role essentially is to provide teaching services to Occupational Therapy students on psychiatry disabilities with special emphasis in rehabilitation and settlement of people with disabilities in their own environment. This includes providing field support to qualified OTs. We seek a person with a minimum of a degreee in Occupational Therapy and relevant teaching/training, and practical work experience in disabilities related to psychiatry. Programme Advisor, Uru North Community Development Trust, Moshi, Tanzania (TZ5) The Programme Advisor will work towards supporting the organisation and local community to plan, coordinate and deliver a range of health care programmes for the benfit of the community. The advisor will also pay particular attention to developing, implementing and monitoring programmes that address communities' concerns with regards to Mother to Child Health issues, reproductive health, and HIV and AIDS. The overall objective is to build capacity within the organisation and communities to implement sustainable healthcare programmes. A relevant professional qualification in nursing, community health management or medicine is required together with a minimum of two years practical working experience. Skillsh in developing and implementing health projects or programmes, as well as budgeting are essential. BTVET formulates policies, develops programmes and lays strategies that improve the quality of training provided by institutions in Uganda. BTVET customers are all the institutions offering Business Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the country. Your role will be to develop a strategic plan for developing modularized entrepreneurship training curricula for BTVET institutions. You will also design and plan modularized, competence based training curricula and programmes, in addition to initiating knowledge sharing and skills development programmes on competency based training. It is essential to have a business background in addition to skills and experience in education, training and developing curricula. This is a two year placement.
