Lead a team

If you are aged 23-35 and have experience of working with young people you can apply to be a Team Leader.

Team leaders play a vital role in the Skillshare ICS team and act as the point of contact between volunteers, in-country Skillshare staff and our partner organisations. Your role will be to facilitate the group's work and ensure all volunteers are supported throughout their placement.

As with all our volunteers, you won't need any particular qualifications or skills to be a Skillshare ICS team leader, but you will need to have some experience of working with and supporting young people.

Our team leader placements last six months. You will be partnered with a voluntary team leader local to the country where you are placed. Together, you will lead a team of between 4-12 UK and local volunteers.

As with general volunteers, ICS will cover all your expenses, including travel, vaccinations, insurance and accomodation, and will also provide you with a small monthly living allowance to cover your costs while in-country. You will need to fundraise £800 before departure, just like other members of your team.

How it works

If successful in your application, we'll invite you to attend a three-day training weekend to fully prepare you for your time abroad. The first day of this will be solely for team leaders. For the remaining two days you will be joined by the team you will be leading, giving you the opportunity to get to know each other before departure.
