Collecting the money can be easy if you do it online.  In the UK, Skillshare International is registered with justgiving.com where you can easily create your own fundraising page.

You don't have to do a sponsored event though: quiz nights, parties, fancy dress days at work and lots of other sorts of events can be fantastic fun for everybody, give you and your friends the knowledge that you're doing something really worthwhile for others, and raise lots of money for our work in Africa and Asia.
