Informal and formal education for school age children and marginalised adults is an essential step to empowering communities to access their rights. We work to increase access to education and to improve retention and attainment levels in marginalised and vulnerable communities.
South Africa: Girls education through football
Gender based violence in South Africa is prevalent and it has one of the highest rates of reported rape in the world, leaving women and girls particularly vulnerable to contracting HIV. In addition, 64% of young women are not in education or employment.
Through our Coaching for Hope programme, we are working in partnership with local organisations, to use sport as a tool to empower young women.

Burkina Faso: I have a dream
In the mining communities located in the Dori region of Burkina Faso, 80% of all those aged five and above are involved in dangerous and exploitative mining work.
We are working to support children and young people to access education and to improve attainment in school, enabling them to find alternative livelihood opportunities and realise their rights.

Skillshare International (India) Trust is providing a mobile learning centre to provide basic education and increase awareness on life skills such as hygiene, healthcare and environmental responsibility. In Guragon, Delhi, migrant workers come from all over India to work on construction sites. Frequently marginalised, their children miss out on education and instead spend their days on construction sites.
